Tree Speak Ogham Staves

These wonderful ogham sets contain 20 or 25 ogham sticks, each one handcrafted from the traditional corresponding tree, shrub and plant type. Truly correct ogham sets are extremely rare but each and every type of wood has been gathered together to create these beautiful tools to divination. We work and play in the ancient Celtic heartlands of Britain where the Durotriges and Atrebates tribes ruled in prehistory. These ogham staves are handcrafted ritual tools with real Celtic soul, something with real spirit and as each set is individually made, no two are ever the same.

What's the difference between the 20 and 25 stave sets?
The first twenty staves are the original, older ogham symbols. The last five (known as the forfeda) were added centuries later. Some people prefer to use only the first twenty, feeling that they're better as they're the original ones, other people prefer to use all twenty-five because they feel the extra ones were needed to complete the ogham and that it's missing something without them. It's all quite a personal choice really and there's no right or wrong.

What's included with my purchase?
Each set is supplied with a simple cotton bag for storage, a certificate of authenticity, a guide to starting out with casting for divination, an information sheet with full correspondences and woods list, and an information sheet about how to care for your staves. The sheets can be in PDF form for easy printing (recommended, and they're replaceable when they get lost!), or paper for gift-giving - please add a note in the message box during checkout if you wish to have a paper copy.

Each set will vary slightly in shape, colour, texture and graining. The pictures shown are past examples and, while the newly crafted sets will contain exactly the same wood types and be very similar in overall style and size, there will be small differences. That's part of the natural beauty of handcrafted items :-)

Note: The alternative woods, listed in brackets below, are occasionally chosen by various traditions or paths which use differing woods from the generally accepted standards. They are available but are only used if specifically requested. Other alternatives may be possible - please email for more info.
