Wolf Pendants (PE1715)
These pieces are each newly carved into Celtic stylised wolf pendants, and the gently rounder-faced wolf mother.
The wolf is an animal which has long been regarded with awe. Ceridwen, the Celtic moon and fertility Goddess was associated with wolves and there are many myths and legends about the wolf being a close companion of humans and tales of nurture. Conversely, the wolf's ferocity is also well told, reminding us of their power. The wolf has associations with the moon, wisdom and in Celtic lore, also with winter from Samhain to Imbolc.
The details of each pendant is as follows:
Pendant #1 is a Wolf Mother, newly carved from beautifully dark Fenland bog oak which is around 2,300 years old.
Pendants #2 and #4 are both Wolf Mothers, newly carved from wonderfully red-toned bog yew wood from Ireland. The wood is, incredibly, around 5,000 years old.
Pendant #3 is a Wolf Mother, newly carved from beautiful Saxon burr oak which is around 1,100 years old, and from the Norfolk area of Britain.
Pendant #5 is a Wolf Spirit, newly carved from warm-toned burr oak from Glastonbury, the fabled Isle of Avalon. It's sourced from a windfallen tree which grew for around a thousand years.
Finally, pendant #6 is a Wolf Spirit, newly carved from windfallen ancient oak wood from a still-living tree. The wood was carefully gathered from a beautiful holloway, a lane walked by people dating back into the mists of time (read more here). The wood is a beautifully warm colour.
Each pendant has a bindrune for protection added to the back, except #4 which has a bindrune for ancestral connection added instead.
The pendants are all filled with our protective herb blend which includes herbs respectfully gathered from the land surrounding the sacred site of Stonehenge. The herbs are sealed inside with a plug of blackthorn which was carefully gathered at the time of the autumn equinox.
