Woden, chief of the Anglo-Saxon Gods, gave his right eye in exchange for wisdom and was considered to be a god of war, learning, poetry and magick. He fashioned the earth and the sky from the dead body of the giant Ymir, and from an ash tree and an alder he created the first man and woman. There are several important archaeological finds from Britain and northern Europe which are of prehistoric wooden figures. Many date back several millennia and have similarities with Woden. This is Spirit of Old's interpretation.

These Woden Dream Walkers wear woven cloaks, black silk scarves, and they each have a garnet eye. They each carry a medicine bag filled with dried rowan berries and a protective blend of dried herbs and plants from folklore which are traditionally considered to aid protection and sleep.

Figures #1 and #3 are made from warm-coloured hawthorn wood. #2 is made from oak. All the wood was carefully gathered from windfallen trees within a beautiful holloway, a lane walked by people dating back into the mists of time (read more here).

A rounded wood bead completes each figure. The beads are created from the root of a windfallen yew tree which dates back to the Saxon age, and grew upon an ancient boundary line.

They are perfect to place upon a surface near your bed or within your home. They also feel good to gently hold during meditation or for ritual use.

Each figure is also filled with dried mugwort and fly agaric.

Mugwort has been used for millennia to to aid clairvoyance, lucid dreaming and astral projection. Our ancestors drank tea made from the leaves and it has also been used in incenses or smoked to induce visions. In times past it was considered to act as a protective charm, warding off evil.

Fly agaric is a famous fungi known from mythology and fairy tales, and is considered to have strong associations with witchcraft and the Fae.

The herbs are sealed inside with a plug of mistletoe which was carefully gathered from an ancient holloway.

They are infused with the energies of this potent ancient herb blend from inside and will make excellent companions to aid you on your dream journeys.

The rune, Ōs, has been added to the base of each Dream Walker, and this can be seen in the second-to-last photo. Ōs embodies both “god” or “divinity.” It is strongly associated with Woden and “mouth, ”which again is related to Woden, who uses the breath of life and also the breath of inspiration. It symbolizes communication, inspiration, poetry and knowledge, usually of divine origin. Ōs signifies eloquence and creativity, and can aid you whether seeking poetic inspiration or even connecting with the spirit realm.

General information
Similar to the Tree Spirit figures, Kindred Spirits, and Hag Spirits, these are our smaller Dream Walker figures. They are based on the prehistoric anthropomorphic figures found in Britain and Europe during archaeological excavations. Many of the originals reside in museum collections. These figures are Spirit of Old's take on what prehistoric people were making and using in the area, and an interpretation of their spirituality - an ancient idea brought forward for use in modern witchcraft.

The Dream Walkers have a defined purpose: protection during sleep. Each figure is created specifically with this in mind, and they are crafted from carefully gathered, earthy materials sourced locally. The main wood of each Dream Walker is selected from a variety including yew root, hazel and blackthorn from the Stonehenge area, and also from British bog oak from Suffolk, dated to the the Iron Age, so just over two thousand years old. Some, though not all, of the figures are free-standing.
