Stonehenge Willow Witch (WTC04)
This natural and earthy Witch figure was created from a piece of willow which was gathered with respect and care from the land surrounding Stonehenge in southern Britain. A strongly feminine tree, willow teaches us to take control of our destiny. It is associated with water, the Underworld, poetry and Witches and it strengthens intuition and gives inspiration.
The piece contains a hole within it, reminiscent of a hagstone. Within mythology, hags are powerful and complex female figures.
The figure wears a woven cloak and is incredibly tactile, so feels good to hold during meditation or for ritual use.
A red ochred animal bone has been added, along with strings of dried rowan berries and Welsh sloes. The red ochre is from a traditional source for it, the Luberon mountains in France. Another addition is a Hampshire hazelnut with a spiral, an ancient symbol of life and lifeforce.
Raven and tawny owl feathers, a raven's foot, a simple deer bone bead, and a medicine bag complete the figure. The bag contains dried rowan berries, traditionally associated with protection, and our protective herb blend, created from herbs which are traditionally considered to aid protection and bring energies of peace.
The figure itself is filled with dried fly agaric, and our protective herb blend which includes herbs respectfully gathered from the land surrounding the sacred site of Stonehenge. Fly agaric is a famous fungi known from mythology and fairy tales, and is considered to have strong associations with witchcraft and the Fae. The herbs are sealed inside with a plug of blackthorn gathered at the time of the Spring Equinox.
A bindrune for ancestral connection has been added to the base of the figure, and this can be seen in the last photo.
