Stonehenge Ivy Hag Spirit (HGS61)
This natural and earthy Hag Spirit figure was created from a piece of windfallen ivy which was gathered with respect and care from Normanton Down, within sight of Stonehenge in southern Britain. The piece contains a hole within it, reminiscent of a hagstone. Within mythology, hags are powerful and complex female figures.
The figure is incredibly tactile, so feels good to hold during meditation or for ritual use. It carries a protective root and herb bundle which can be best seen in the second-to-last photo.
The roots of Solomon's seal, yarrow and St. John's wort are added to the bundle. Yarrow brings its strong associations with clairvoyance and powers to promote divination, and St. John's Wort is traditionally used to repel negative energies. Mugwort brings its history of being used to aid clairvoyance, lucid dreaming and astral projection. The bundle is finished with the dried flowers of yarrow.
A piece of quartz has been added, along with a simple deer antler bead. Raven and kestrel feathers and a medicine bag complete the figure. The bag contains dried rowan berries, traditionally associated with protection, and our protective herb blend, created from herbs which are traditionally considered to aid protection and bring energies of peace.
The figure itself is filled with a potent mix: our protective herb blend which includes herbs respectfully gathered from the land surrounding the sacred site of Stonehenge, combined with mugwort.
Mugwort has been used for millennia to to aid clairvoyance, lucid dreaming and astral projection. Our ancestors drank tea made from the leaves and it has also been used in incenses or smoked to induce visions. In times past it was considered to act as a protective charm, warding off evil.
The herbs are sealed inside with a plug of Summer solstice-gathered blackthorn.
Bindrunes for ancestral connection and protection have been added to the base of the figure, and these can be seen in the last photo.
