Rowan Tree Witch (TS098)
This beautiful Tree Witch figure has been created from a piece of rowan wood which is traditionally considered to be a tree of protection.
The figure is incredibly tactile, so feels good to gently hold during meditation or for ritual use. It feels full of positive energies.
It is adorned with a simple deer antler bead, and a Hampshire hazelnut. The hazelnut has a spiral added, an ancient symbol of life and lifeforce. An acorn and a red ochred animal bone are also added. The red ochre is from a traditional source, the Luberon mountains in France.
The Tree Witch is also adorned with raven feathers and a raven's foot, along with a string of dried rowan berries.
A woven cloak, and a medicine bag complete the figure. The bag contains dried rowan berries, traditionally associated with protection, and our protective herb blend, created from herbs which are traditionally considered to aid protection and bring energies of peace.
The figure itself is filled with our protective herb blend which includes herbs respectfully gathered from the land surrounding the sacred site of Stonehenge. Fly agaric, betony, mugwort, and the roots of enchanter's nightshade are also added.
Fly agaric is a famous fungi known from mythology and fairy tales, and is considered to have strong associations with witchcraft and the Fae.
Betony is traditionally associated with protection, both of the area surrounding it, and of the person carrying or wearing it. If placed beneath the pillow, it's considered to protect the sleeper against nightmares. It's also associated with dispelling negativity and soothing tensions.
Enchanter's nightshade has long associations with witchcraft and sorcery. It's considered to aid inner conflict and has been traditionally used to find balance by bringing opposites together. Binding, hexing and enchantment is also associated with this beautiful herb. It is also connected with the goddess of the moon, and was used in spells and rituals to call upon her power.
Mugwort has been used for millennia to to aid clairvoyance, lucid dreaming and astral projection. Our ancestors drank tea made from the leaves and it has also been used in incenses or smoked to induce visions. In times past it was considered to act as a protective charm, warding off evil.
The herbs are sealed inside with a plug of Summer solstice-gathered holloway blackthorn.
A bindrune for protection has been added to the base of the figure, and this can be seen in the last photo. A second bindrune for ancestral connection has been added to the front.
