Wessex Larch Goddess Figurine (AP031)
This wonderful Goddess is newly carved into a beautiful figurine with a full moon above her head. She has been created from a piece of windfallen larch wood carefully gathered within the Wessex area of southern Britain.
In European folklore the larch tree was said to be a protection against enchantment. Customs included the wearing and burning of the wood to protect against evil spirits. It has connections with fire, the earth and Woden, and the Saami and Siberian people considered it to be the world tree. The wood feels full of positive energies.
The Goddess is filled with a potent mix: our protective herb blend which includes herbs respectfully gathered from the land surrounding the sacred site of Stonehenge, combined with fly agaric, betony, mugwort, and the root of enchanter's nightshade.
Fly agaric is a famous fungi known from mythology and fairy tales, and is considered to have strong associations with witchcraft and the Fae.
Betony is traditionally associated with protection, both of the area surrounding it, and of the person carrying or wearing it. If placed beneath the pillow, it's considered to protect the sleeper against nightmares. It's also associated with dispelling negativity and soothing tensions.
Mugwort has been used for millennia to to aid clairvoyance, lucid dreaming and astral projection. Our ancestors drank tea made from the leaves and it has also been used in incenses or smoked to induce visions. In times past it was considered to act as a protective charm, warding off evil.
Enchanter's nightshade has long associations with witchcraft and sorcery. It's considered to aid inner conflict and has been traditionally used to find balance by bringing opposites together. Binding, hexing and enchantment is also associated with this beautiful herb. It is also connected with the goddess of the moon, and was used in spells and rituals to call upon her power.
The piece is infused with the energies of this potent ancient herb blend from inside and will make an excellent addition to your altar or sacred space.
The herbs are sealed inside the Goddess with a plug of holloway mistletoe.
The base has a bindrune for ancestral connection added, and this can be seen in the last photo. The back has the beautifully dark bark left in place, in contrast to the warm-coloured inner wood.
The figurine is free-standing on a flat surface and is wonderfully tactile - perfect for holding during sleep or meditation.
A wonderfully special piece made with real Celtic soul.
