Hare Fertility Amulet (DAM593)

£180.00 GBP Sold Out

This amulet is crafted from ancient bog oak and carved into a beautiful hare. Hares are traditionally associated with fertility, and the moon.

The wood is beautifully dark bog oak with a few lighter streaks within it. It's from the Celtic tribal lands of Britain once walked by the Iceni queen, Boudica, and is around 2,300 years old, dating back to the time of the Iron Age.

The hare is free-standing on a flat surface and is very tactile - perfect for holding during sleep or meditation. The amulet is filled with dried mugwort which was respectfully gathered from the land surrounding the sacred site of Stonehenge.

Mugwort has been used for millennia to to aid clairvoyance, lucid dreaming and astral projection. Our ancestors drank tea made from the leaves and it has also been used in incenses or smoked to induce visions. In times past it was considered to act as a protective charm, warding off evil.

The herbs are sealed inside with a plug of heather also gathered from the land surrounding Stonehenge.

The base of the hare has the Anglo-Saxon rune Ingwaz added, which represents fertility. This can be seen in the last photo.

Amulet size: 10.75 cm/4.25 inches tall (approx.)
