Faery Ring Pendants (PE1784)

£100.00 GBP Sold Out

These Faery Ring necklaces are crafted from ancient bog wood. The front of each pendant contains three plugs of wood which are traditionally considered to be the Faery woods: oak, ash and hawthorn. The back has Old Norse runic script saying "Til verja", meaning to protect and this can be seen in the second-to-last photo.

Pendant #1 is newly carved from beautifully dark Fenland bog oak from Suffolk which is around 2,300 years old, dating back to the time of the Iron Age.

Pendants #2 and #3 are both newly carved from English bog yew which is wonderfully rich-toned. The wood is around 4,000 years old.

Pendant #4 is newly carved from beautifully warm-toned Saxon bog oak which is around 1,100 years old and from the Norfolk area of Britain.

The pendants are filled with dried fly agaric and enchanter's nightshade. Fly agaric is a famous fungi known from mythology and fairy tales, and is considered to have strong associations with witchcraft and the Fae.

Enchanter's nightshade has long associations with witchcraft and sorcery. It's considered to aid inner conflict and has been traditionally used to find balance by bringing opposites together. Binding, hexing and enchantment is also associated with this beautiful herb. It is also connected with the goddess of the moon, and was used in spells and rituals to call upon her power.

The herbs are sealed inside with a plug of oak.
