Avalonian bog oak ring pendant (PE1281)

£50.00 GBP Past item

This simple pendant is carved from a chunky, tactile ring of bog oak from the Glastonbury area - long fabled to be the Isle of Avalon. Bog oak, by its very nature is always an ancient wood. It is a term used for wood which dates from hundreds, to thousands, of years ago and which has been naturally preserved in wet ground. The tannins gradually stain the wood a dark colour ranging from rich browns through to the deepest black.

The wood used for this piece is beautifully rich in colour and dates back to the Bronze Age, around 3,000 years ago. The pendant is hung on a length of thonging - if you have a preference between cotton cord or leather, please add a note in the message box during checkout.
