Blackthorn Witch Figure (AP028)
This natural and earthy figure has been created from a piece of blackthorn wood and thorns into a strong and powerful witch. The wood was gathered with respect and care from the land surrounding Stonehenge in southern Britain. The piece contains a natural hole within it, reminiscent of a hagstone. Within mythology, hags are powerful and complex female figures.
The figurine is free-standing on a flat surface. The natural bark has been left intact on the body, giving a wonderful contrast of colour and the piece feels full of positive and protective energies.
The witch has a woven cloak, raven feathers and a raven's foot. She is adorned with a piece of quartz, a string of rowan berries, and Welsh sloes. These are combined with a large Stonehenge blackthorn, a hare bone, and a Hampshire hazelnut. The hazelnut has a spiral added, an ancient symbol of life and lifeforce.
The medicine bag, and the witch herself, are both filled with our protective herb blend, created from herbs which are traditionally considered to aid protection and bring energies of peace. The herbs are sealed inside the witch with a plug of ancient Irish bog yew which is around 5,000 years old. The bag also contains dried mugwort, also from the Stonehenge area, and dried rowan berries, traditionally associated with protection.
A wonderfully special piece made with real Celtic soul.
