Avalonian Raven Amulet (DAM645)

This dream amulet is newly carved from ancient bog oak into a detailed raven's head. Ravens have strong associations with the Celtic God Bran who has both underworld and solar connections and they also have further links with water and prophecy.

The wood is from the Glastonbury area of southern Britain, the fabled Isle of Avalon. The wood is around 3,200 years old It is beautifully rich and deep in colour, and feels full of positive energies.

The raven's primary purpose is for hanging near the bed for a dream charm or in a special corner to encourage positive energies into your home.

The amulet is adorned with a simple antler bead and tip, and also a red ochred animal bone. The red ochre is from a traditional source, the Luberon mountains in France. A medicine bag and raven feathers complete the amulet.

The medicine bag is filled with our protective herb blend, created from herbs which are traditionally considered to aid protection and bring energies of peace. The bag also contains dried rowan berries, traditionally associated with protection.

The raven itself is filled with a potent mix: our protective herb blend which includes herbs respectfully gathered from the land surrounding the sacred site of Stonehenge, combined with fly agaric, betony, mugwort, and the root of enchanter's nightshade.

Fly agaric is a famous fungi known from mythology and fairy tales, and is considered to have strong associations with witchcraft and the Fae.

Betony is traditionally associated with protection, both of the area surrounding it, and of the person carrying or wearing it. If placed beneath the pillow, it's considered to protect the sleeper against nightmares. It's also associated with dispelling negativity and soothing tensions.

Mugwort has been used for millennia to to aid clairvoyance, lucid dreaming and astral projection. Our ancestors drank tea made from the leaves and it has also been used in incenses or smoked to induce visions. In times past it was considered to act as a protective charm, warding off evil.

Enchanter's nightshade has long associations with witchcraft and sorcery. It's considered to aid inner conflict and has been traditionally used to find balance by bringing opposites together. Binding, hexing and enchantment is also associated with this beautiful herb. It is also connected with the goddess of the moon, and was used in spells and rituals to call upon her power.

The herbs are sealed inside the raven with a plug of Summer solstice-gathered holloway blackthorn.
