Ancient bog yew spiral amulet (PE1266)
This wonderful piece is carved into a simple and tactile amulet. The wood is ancient bog yew from Ireland and is around 5,000 years old. It is a beautifully warm, rich colour and feels full of positive energies. It is carved with a spiral, an ancient symbol of life and life-force.
The amulet is filled with hedge-gathered herbs which have been used since ancient times - figwort and the beautifully named enchanter's nightshade. The herbs are permanently sealed inside with a protective plug of black Irish bog oak which dates back to the Iron Age, around 2,500 years ago.
Enchanter's nightshade has long associations with witchcraft and sorcery. It's considered to aid inner conflict and has been traditionally used to find balance by bringing opposites together. Binding, hexing and enchantment is also associated with this beautiful herb which makes it a perfect pairing for figwort which is traditionally considered to aid protection and healing.
The amulet is infused with the energies of this ancient herb blend from inside and is supplied with cotton cord or leather thonging - if you have a preference please add a note in the message box during checkout.
