Holloway Yew Crow Amulet (DAM599)

This dream amulet is carved into a detailed crow's head. Crows are considered to be birds of prophecy and visions. Like the shaman, they are said to look with one eye into the conscious world and with one eye into the inner world and see beneath the surface.

The crow is newly carved from yew wood, carefully gathered from a beautiful holloway, a lane walked by people dating back into the mists of time (read more here). It's a beautifully warm colour and feels full of positive energies.

The crow's primary purpose is for hanging near the bed for a dream charm or in a special corner to encourage positive energies into your home.

The amulet is adorned with jet and jasper, both from Doggerland. A red ochred animal bone has been added. The red ochre is from a traditional source, the Luberon mountains in France. Dried Welsh sloes, raven feathers and a medicine bag complete the amulet.

The medicine bag is filled with our protective herb blend, created from herbs which are traditionally considered to aid protection and bring energies of peace. The bag also contains dried rowan berries, traditionally associated with protection.

The crow itself is filled with dried betony and enchanter's nightshade.

Betony is traditionally associated with protection, both of the area surrounding it, and of the person carrying or wearing it. If placed beneath the pillow, it's considered to protect the sleeper against nightmares. It's also associated with dispelling negativity and soothing tensions.

Enchanter's nightshade has long associations with witchcraft and sorcery. It's considered to aid inner conflict and has been traditionally used to find balance by bringing opposites together. Binding, hexing and enchantment is also associated with this beautiful herb.

The herbs are sealed inside with a plug of heather.
