Bog Oak Protection Bead (PE1571)

This simple, tactile, and chunky bead is carved from beautifully rich-coloured bog oak from the East Anglia area of Britain. The wood is around 2,300 years old, dating back to the time of the Iron Age. It has a bindrune for protection added.

Bog oak, by its very nature is always an ancient wood. It is a term used for wood which dates from hundreds, to thousands, of years ago and which has been naturally preserved in wet ground. The tannins gradually stain the wood a dark colour ranging from rich browns through to the deepest black.
